Chobe National Park is one of the greatest game reserves in southern Africa and famous for the number of elephant that live there. The bird life in particular is exceptional.

The Safari starts with a morning game viewing cruise on the Chobe River with tea, coffee, drinks and light snacks being served on board. Large flocks of birds, big pods of hippo and very large crocodiles are all around. After disembarking, lunch is then taken at the Chobe Safari Lodge, which overlooks the Chobe River and the flood plains beyond. In the afternoon, open safari vehicles are used for a game drive into the park. The game drive meanders its way back to Customs and Immigration, before crossing the border and then transferring back to Victoria Falls at approximately 18:30.

To put the Victoria Falls into true perspective, they must really be seen from the air. The sheer size and grandeur of the spectacle becomes clear when viewed from above. The huge Zambezi River flowing slowly south with hippos and crocodiles clearly visible in the shallow waters, elephant quietly browsing on bright green islands as the water spreads across the full width of a great rent in the earth before crashing over the lip in a burst of spray and then squeezing into a narrow, foaming, blast of water rushing down the zig zag funnel of the gorges. An unrivalled view of the Victoria Falls and surrounding National Parks area“…scenes so lovely, must have been gazed upon by Angels in their Flight”.

A friendly Khanondo host will collect clients from all accommodation in Victoria Falls. As the excursion does not include breakfast, we advise you to order a packed breakfast the night before at your accommodation and collect it early that morning (most lodges and hotels provide this service). You will then be collected and transferred by us to the main camp in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe, which is situated approximately 180km away and takes two hours to drive there.

The estimated time of arrival at the main camp is at 7am. We will then take a quick detour to collect a packed lunch for you from the local kitchen in Hwange, after which we proceed directly into the park itself after liaising with the officials and begin our African tour and safari into the wilderness. The drive will end around 4pm at the exit of the park, from where you will once again be transferred by your friendly Khanondo host to your Victoria Falls accommodation.

Take some time out to spend the day exploring Chobe National Park which straddles Zimbabwe and Botswana and is flooded by the Zambezi during the rainy season. Come and enjoy the abundance of wildlife and birds that reside in this exquisite national park.

You will be collected from your Victoria Falls accommodation early in the morning from where you will be transferred to the border. This is a unique border post where the countries of Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia meet in the middle of the river.

Begin your day with a boat cruise on the banks of the magnificent Chobe River; from here you can do some of the best game viewing as animals come to the water for an early morning drink. Some highlights of this trip include sightings of elephant herds coming to the river to bath, buffalo and the high probability of sighting lions.

After lunch, which is included in the tour, you will be taken into the park using a 4×4 safari vehicle, essential for the sandy dirt roads that comprise the park. At the end of the day, which draws to a close at approximately 4pm, you will be transferred back to your Victoria Falls accommodation.

To discover how the Falls were formed and what local customs and traditions surround them, it is well worth taking a guided tour.

These tours are informative and last for 2½ hours. Tours may be booked in the morning or afternoon and times are flexible. Guests are collected from their hotel for a short drive to the Falls. The Tour includes National Park Fees, the services of a qualified guide and bottled mineral water.
