Get your groove on for the Summer of Love! This tour of San Francisco attractions takes you on a magic carpet ride through the places that sparked a cultural revolution.
First hour:
We all meet up in front of the Zephyr Hotel in Fisherman’s Wharf. This place is surrounded by great shops, so come early and load up on snacks and coffee.
The view of San Francisco’s waterfront from the Crissy Field Overlook will take you breath away. And that’s while you’re heading into the old Presidio military base—which is now a city park.
Prepare yourself. As we venture into the Presidio, a long-time military base, you’ll come upon the most amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Visitors love this stop at Godfrey Battery for its World War I-era fortifications and the shots they get of San Francisco’s most famous landmark.
Second hour:
Enter Golden Gate Park from the coastal side where you’ll see the Bison Paddock, enormous Dutch windmills, and Spreckels Lake.
Now, you get to choose!
Option one: Spend 30 minutes here in the park sampling the M.H. de Young Museum, California Academy of Sciences, Botanical Gardens, Japanese Tea Gardens, and Stow Lake.
Option two: Put some flowers in your hair as we explore Haight-Ashbury—epicenter for the Summer of Love. See the Grateful Dead House, Jimi Hendrix Red House, Buena Vista Park, and Victorian homes that survived the fire of 1906.
Last 30 minutes:
The last leg of the tour passes straight through the storied Castro and Mission districts. See the Mission San Francisco; it was founded in 1776. Then roll by public murals—some old, some still fresh!
Catch views of awesome public buildings: SF City Hall, War Memorial Opera House, the Asian Art Museum, and the Pioneer Monument.
Meeting/pick-up point: In front of the Zephyr Hotel in Fisherman’s Wharf.
Duration: 2.5-3 hours.
