A city of over 1,000 Buddhist temples, come and discover Japan’s former ancient capital with an afternoon tour from Osaka.

In just one afternoon, take the opportunity to see the highlights of Kyoto with this afternoon tour from Osaka. Hop aboard the JR Special Rapid Service or Rapid Service to Kyoto to arrive for an afternoon’s sightseeing by bus.

First on the itinerary is Heian Jingu Shrine, built to celebrate the 1100th anniversary of Kyoto’s founding, its characteristic red architecture makes this an impressive sight to behold. We then visit the world’s longest wooden structure, Sanjusangen-do Temple, which houses 1,001 life-size statues of Buddhist Kannon deities. And last on the itinerary is Kiyomizu-dera Temple, from where you can admire all of Kyoto from its superb viewpoint before boarding the train back to Osaka by JR Special Rapid/Rapid (non-reserved seats). This tour brings you the opportunity to see shrines and temples that each hold their own unique atmosphere to get a taste of the Kyoto’s history and culture.

Meeting point: Depart from Hotel Granvia Osaka.
Duration: 7 hours.
Start/opening time: At 12:30pm.
End/closing time: At 7:30pm.
Drop Off Location: Tour ends at JR Osaka Station. Please head to your next destination on your own after the tour.

Others: During the Jidai Festival on October 22, Heian Jingu Shrine is closed to the public and will be replaced in the itinerary by Chishaku-in Temple. If the Jidai Festival is postponed, we will follow suit with the itinerary change.
This tour will not enter Heian Jingu Shrine's Shin-en garden.
Depending on the number of participants, the tour will use JR train or a bus for transportation between Osaka and Kyoto. In the case of transportation via JR train, all seats are non-reserved. Please note that seating is not guaranteed.
